Happy 4th of July Everyone & Welcome Back
As you have been following, you'll remember that I have been talking about hydrotherapy and the results of hydrotherapy in my previous blogs. I also touched on creating the serene hydrotherapy environment. This will be my last blog session on hydrotherapy. Going forward after this last hydrotherapy, I will discuss colors and what they mean. Be sure to check back to read my color revelation guide. But for now, I'm going to finish the hydrotherapy session up with safety.
There are safety precautions you should take when using hydrotherapy.
1. Never sit in water hotter than you can physically stand to prevent scalding
2. Do not use hydrotherapy if you suffer hypertension
3. Drink lots of water during and after to prevent dehydration as with hydrotherapy you will sweat all your fluids out
4. If you are not use to hydrotherapy, start out by soaking for only 5 minutes and then increase to longer periods
5. When standing up, use caution to prevent slips and falls, especially if you are a newbie as you may experience dizziness.
These are the main precautions to take when indulging in hydrotherapy. Especially if you are new to the procedure. Believe me, I learned the hard way. My very first attempt to indulge in hydrotherapy, I of course thought I was prepared, especially with my handy dandy book Heal Thyself for Health & Longevity
Unfortunately, I just read the actual procedure part and of course as we most do, not the warning part. Needless to say, now looking back on it is quite humorous but at the time, it wasn't too funny.
I ran my water as hot as I could stand it and put my pure lavandar oil in the water. I then eased myself in and layed back. Like the book said, I elevated my feet at a 45 degree angle, closed my eyes and relaxed. I was so amazed at the sweat that came pouring out of me and was excited because I just knew I lost 10 pounds. The only problem was, I did not drink any water what so ever. So, when I stood up to get out, I got so dizzy and I was extremely over heated.
I eased my way out the tub and quickly stepped out the hot bathroom into the hall to get to cool air. I grabbed my book and read a little more to the warnings and by golly, there it was big as day, "DRINK PLENTY OF WATER TO REPLACE BODILY FLUIDS". So, not even bothering to get dressed or dry off, I eased my dizzy self to the kitchen, which I must say insulted my kids by having to look at my undressed body (but I didn't care at that point as it was an emergency), and once in the kitchen, I immediately gulped down 3 cups of water and immediately felt better.
My lesson from this experience was to always read all the way through when you are taking on new healing regimes, and keep a glass of water next to me and drink it while relaxing in my hydrotherapy treatment.
